Godox Lux Junior – A Compact Flash for Everyone

Lux Junior is the smallest and lightest flash in the series. Available in several colors (black, white, mint, pink, and red), it is fully multi-system compatible — supporting cameras from Fuji, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, and Sony. It works with both digital and analog cameras (thanks to the included sync cable).

Despite its small size, it delivers a stable color temperature of 6000K±200K and runs on two AAA batteries. It can be used in manual mode (M) with seven power levels ranging from 1/1 to 1/64, or in Auto (A) — inspired by classic flashes from the ’80s. It’s not TTL but a simple mode that assists with proper exposure settings.

The flash also includes an optical trigger with two modes:

  • S1 – triggers on the first flash,
  • S2 – ignores pre-flashes.

In practice, Lux Junior impresses with style, simplicity, and effectiveness. It offers fast recycling times, good range within a few meters, and is perfect as a lightweight on-the-go flash. Ideal for beginners learning flash photography and for professionals seeking a stylish compact light source.

Godox Lux Senior – A Stylish Flash with a Folding Reflector

Lux Senior is the bigger and more advanced “brother” of the Junior — maintaining the retro character while offering more power and a unique construction. Its most distinctive feature is the metal folding reflector that works like a miniature beauty dish, providing soft, diffused light — ideal for portraits and product shots.

The flash has a guide number of 14 (ISO 100), a 6000K color temperature, and a bulb-style flash tube. It is powered by a built-in 3.7V 1700 mAh lithium-ion battery, delivering up to around 550 flashes per full charge. Charging is done via USB-C (5V/2A).

Thanks to its compact size, Lux Senior is perfect as a fill light, creative effect flash, or portable portrait flash. It supports hot shoe sync and second curtain sync, allowing for dynamic motion-freeze effects. The effective lighting range is approx. 0.5–4 m, which is suitable for most portrait and reportage scenarios.

Comparison & Use Cases – Who Is Lux Junior For, and Who Should Choose Lux Senior?

Both models combine retro aesthetics with simplicity and manual flash control.

  • Lux Junior (GN12) – lightweight, pocket-sized flash powered by AAA batteries — ideal for learning flash photography and spontaneous shoots.
  • Lux Senior (GN14) – more powerful, with a built-in battery and softer light thanks to the reflector.

Neither flash offers TTL or HSS, giving the photographer full control over exposure and light. They work great for portrait, street, wedding, and reportage photography, as well as outdoor fill light and creative effects.

User Guide – From Beginner to Pro

Both Lux Junior and Lux Senior are manual flashes, meaning you set the power yourself. For beginners, trial and error is a good method: set the flash to full power, take a test photo, check the result, and adjust flash power or aperture accordingly.

A helpful exposure guide is located under the rear cover of both flashes — showing sample ISO, aperture, and distance combinations. For example, when shooting a portrait in soft low light with Lux Junior at full power, ISO 100, and f/2.8, you can properly light a subject from about 2–3 meters away.

Analog camera users can connect via the included sync cable — the flash is compatible with any camera featuring a traditional PC sync port, confirming its versatility.

Choose a Stylish Lighting Solution

Godox Lux Junior and Lux Senior combine the aesthetics of classic reporter flashes with the functionality of modern gear. They offer enough features to stay easy even for beginners, while still appealing to professionals who value mobility and iconic design.
