Godox ML series: compact LED lights chosen by professionals and loved by amateurs too
Extraordinary power in a small package. The ML series is a modern line of portable LED lights from Godox, designed for mobile creators and filmmakers. Each model – from the tiny ML30 to the advanced ML100Bi and full-color ML100R – is as light as a smartphone, yet offers surprising performance. This makes ML lights easy to fit into a professional's bag or a small YouTuber room, always providing extra light “at hand”. The simple, boxy design and quiet cooling make these lights extremely convenient to use and they do not overheat even during long work sessions. Control both from the body and via the Godox Light app (Bluetooth up to 30 m) makes them truly modern lighting tools.

Godox ML80Bi – full bi-color palette with battery included
Full potential is the phrase that comes to mind with the ML80Bi model – a compact Bi-Color light (2800–6500K) with a dedicated ML-BA battery. Thanks to it, the light can be used cable-free for up to an hour at full power, which is very useful outdoors. Despite its small size (comparable to a CD case), the ML80Bi offers high light output – with the included ML-Z reflector it reaches nearly 29,600 lux from 1 meter (at 5600K). Wide color and brightness adjustment range (smooth 0–100%) and high color rendering index (CRI ~96%) ensure the light is natural and versatile. The light is equipped with a system of magnetic modifiers: on the standard reflector you can quickly mount diffusers or gels without screws. ML80Bi also works on mains power and can be powered by Sony NP-F or V-Mount batteries (via optional adapters), ensuring it never runs out of power during long sessions. In short, the ML80Bi is a feather-light studio light for any bag, delivering strong light with full color temperature control instantly.

Godox ML100Bi – pocket-sized bi-color giant
The ML100Bi model is the most powerful bi-color light in the series – over 100 W in a body slightly larger than a smartphone (approx. 122×110×46 mm) and weighing under 500 g. Thanks to Godox’s technological solutions, it packs even more efficiency than the ML80Bi; the light delivers over 120 W at maximum power (20V/6A) and shines in strong lighting setups. ML100Bi allows adjustment from 2800K to 6500K and precise smooth intensity changes, while built-in effects and light modes simulate various situations (e.g., lightning or screen flicker). Very high CRI/TLCI (~97–98) ensures faithful color rendering – professional filmmakers use the ML100Bi as supplementary accent or practical light on large sets. Another advantage is the extensive Godox-mount accessory range: the standard set includes two reflectors (15° and 36°), and with a Bowens adapter you can attach a softbox, barn doors, or other modifiers. ML100Bi models are available in two kits: with reflectors or with an optional V-mount adapter, making this light even more versatile. Thus, ML100Bi serves as a “handy high-power light” always ready to carry with you.

Godox ML100R – a world of RGB colors
For creators seeking unlimited color possibilities, Godox created the RGB version – the ML100R model. Identical in appearance to the ML100Bi, it features the full range of color temperatures from 1800K to 10000K and a complete RGB palette. This means this small light can deliver any color, subtle gradients, or dramatic color effects in videos and photos. Despite its limited size 12.19 × 10.92 × 4.57 cm and weight ~500 g, ML100R generates decent brightness – about 2360 lux at 1 m (5600K) without a reflector, and up to 12,900 lux with the included narrow reflector. Full Hue/Sat/Int (HSI) adjustment allows precise color setting, and 14 built-in lighting effects add creative atmosphere (e.g., pulsing, weather scenes, neon flash). ML100R uses the same power sources as ML100Bi, offers app control, and quiet fan operation. For a lighting director, this is an excellent tool: the light “transfers” any color inspiration to the set, either as a strong color point or subtle backlight behind the subject.

Godox ML30 – small hero in hand
The smallest in the ML series, the ML30 model, is a “daylight” LED delivering a fixed 5600K color and impressive brightness. Dimensions 12×9×9 cm and weight about 600 g make it almost pocket-sized, yet with the included reflector it can generate over 7000 lux at 1 meter. ML30 stands out with high color accuracy (CRI ~96%), which is unusual in such an affordable light – perfect for vlogging or amateur productions. The light has a built-in quiet cooling fan to prevent overheating, and the set includes a universal power supply covering 100–240V. On the go, ML30 can also be powered by an external 14.8V battery (not included) or a power bank via the included DC cables, greatly extending operation outside the studio. This is a great backup option for lighting small spaces and a practical accent light on a film set.

Flexible power supply and rich accessories
A common feature of the entire ML series is the variety of power options. All lights use included mains power supplies but also allow mobile operation: ML80Bi comes with included or dedicated ML-BA battery, ML100Bi and ML100R can be powered from a power bank (via USB-C) with NP-F or V-mount battery holders, and ML30 can run on a battery attached to the mini mount. This allows mounting the light and shining even in remote locations without continuous mains power. Godox also offers a wide range of dedicated ML lighting accessories – from clever mini-reflectors and boxy softboxes (mounted via Bowens adapter), through internal diffusers and grids, to colored gels or projection attachments (ML projector kit). This allows ML lights to be quickly adapted to scene needs: whether we want soft diffused interview light or a focused beam on the face.

Lightweight, modern, and affordable
The ML series proves that you don’t need to spend a fortune to have professional LED lights. Although these models look like ordinary “boxes”, inside they hide advanced electronics, precise COB diodes, smooth control, and Bluetooth connectivity. For such a small price, we get devices used on film sets and in studios, yet very friendly to beginners – intuitive operation and ready-made effect modes are easy to grasp even without experience. Thanks to low weight and compact dimensions fitting in any bag, MLs are favorites among gaffers as accent lights: “big units” are fired occasionally, while MLs add color to interiors, highlight faces from the side, or imitate practical light (e.g., bedside lamp or monitor screen). Additionally, quiet operation and energy efficiency (LED tubes consume less power than traditional 60–100 W lights). These are compact lights that allow creative lighting of any shot – whether just starting with filmmaking or gaining experience on large sets.
